Current Employer and Job Title: Anna Cary Photography and Photo Restoration
(self-employed)
After seeing an ad in the Orlando Sentinel for a Photoshop class, Anna decided to give it a try. She soon discovered the world of digital photography. After spending about a year learning the basics of both Photoshop and Photography, she bought her first SLR camera. Play quickly turned into serious study, and Anna joined the Orlando Camera Club, in addition to the NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals).
Anna continued her classes in Photoshop, and also enrolled in the ongoing Mac Update class, which she still attends. "Taking the Mac class allows me to handle any computer issues and updates, so that I can concentrate on what has become a small home business. I do digital photography, photo restoration, and my latest passion, photo art (taking digital photos and turning them into graphic and/or painterly images, all by computer)." This small business serves mostly local clients, with advertising by word of mouth, although she does have some out of state clients as well.
The small class sizes and networking opportunities keep Anna coming back for more. "I like the small class size, which provides a lot of personal attention, as well as interaction with other students. Networking with my classmates—former and present—is an ongoing perk from taking classes at Winter Park Tech."
In her two years with the Orlando Camera Club, Anna has become the Education Chair. "The OCC was a perfect complement to my training at Winter Park Tech. OCC holds a monthly photography competition, as well as educational presentations. It has become a great forum for building on my skills from classes at WPT."
