May 27th, 2010
Guest Speaker - Ms. Martha Helen-Wright
Fifty-One Students - Were Inducted Into This Prestigious Organization
Inspirational and emotional - are two words that were used to describe Winter Park Tech’s National Adult Education Honor Spring induction ceremony. On May27th, fifty-one students were inducted into this prestigious organization because of their commitment and dedication to achieving their personal educational goals.
Students in ESOL, VPI, HSC and GED programs were recognized with heartfelt introductions during the ceremony. Guest Speaker, Ms. Martha Helen-Wright stirred the audience with personal stories of being triumphant through life’s obstacles and motivating our students to never give up despite their circumstances.
Instructors from all Adult Education Programs at Winter Park Tech and ACE centers participated in this successful event. The most memorable part of the ceremony was the induction of Haggeo Sandoval, an 88 year old ESOL student from ACE at Engelwood Community Center. The entire audience cheered him on as his named was called during the ceremony. Mr. Haggeo is a testament of how education is a lifelong progress. No heart was left untouched at the end of the ceremony.
Our NEAHS sponsor, Ms. Ayana Hastings did an excellent of planning this entire ceremony. A big thank you goes out to the administrators of Winter Park Tech and our associate superintendent of CTE, Ms. Janet Addair for supporting this event.
